Barbara M. Smith has been with McTighe, Weiss & O'Rourke since May of 2001. After a twenty year career as a bookkeeper and profit sharing account manager, Barbara attended Widener Law School at night and graduated Cum Laude in December 2001. She was an Associate at the firm following her successful completion of the Pennsylvania Bar examination in April of 2002. Barbara became a partner of the firm since 2012.

Barbara assists John O'Rourke in all areas of litigation and general practice. Her particular area of concentration includes Estate Planning and Administration.

Outside the office, Barbara is a member of the Montgomery County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. She has been vice-chair of the Women in the Law Committee of Montgomery County and is also a member of Montgomery County Bar's Probate and Tax Committee. She was a director of the Ethics Committee at Parkhouse, Montgomery County's Geriatric Facility, from 2002 through 2006. She has also served as a director at Good Shephard Mediation Center in Germantown.

Barbara served as chairperson of the Montgomery Bar Foundations first "Access to Justice" summit in April, 2017 and is currently serving on the "Epic" pilot program committee to develop Landlord/Tenant court assistance in local courts. She was a member of the Boards of Directors for St. Denis School Parent Association and Archbishop Carroll's Band Parent Association until her youngest child graduated in 2007. She has three children and lives in Havertown with her husband Jim, a structural engineer.
